beauty and the beast.

So today I watched the beauty in destruction unfold. I’m finishing up dinner as my mother runs up the wooden walk way to the beach screaming, “fire, fire”!, so I, and the rest of my family, run down the beach to witness the largest fire I have ever seen in my life. Side note, I’m currently on Bald Head Island in North Carolina, where the only things you are allowed to drive is golf carts, and it is only accessible by ferry. Needless to say, this place is not home to the best firefighters in the world. So this puppy rages on for a good 3 to 4 hours. I sat on the beach and watched it from a distance for about an hour. In doing this I began to ponder how ironic it is that I liked watching it thinking it was beautiful as it utterly destroyed some ones millions of dollars in beach property. God I can’t even begin to describe how majestically it burned. Orange and red, billowing smoke. It was truly and unequivocally beautiful. I’m not sure yet how much damage was done, but it certainly got me thinking about the beauty in destruction and how terrible of a concept that is.
